Brooklyn Rugby to launch Men’s Division 4 team

Brooklyn Rugby is excited to announce our decision to enter a men’s side into the Empire GU’s D4 South to compliment our D3 South men’s side.

What does this mean? Most importantly, we want to grow the club and entering a D4 side means we will now be able to guarantee regular game time to our 2nd XV. Furthermore, the D4 side will also be a way of providing instruction and competition to more club members: old boys, those new to the game, those too busy to attend training, those returning from injury, those who only want to play socially, to name a few.

To play in D4, all you need to do is be CIPP’d, let our coaches know your intent and show up on Saturdays ready to play. Although encouraged, there is no requirement to show up to weekly training  sessions. Plus, all current D4 sides are in the New York metropolitan area so travel will be limited – just get to the field on Saturday and play some rugby.

We will begin the spring by organizing friendly matches for the D4 side and, by the start of the next fall season, the D4 team will be part of the Empire GU, and have its own league schedule against other teams in D4 South.

We hope this opportunity encourages Brooklyn Rugby players both present, past and future to to play an active role in the continuing growth and development of the club.
