Women win Gohring Tournament; Men unbeaten in spring league season

We’re only three weeks into the spring season and already we’re seeing some great results across all teams.

First up, Brooklyn Women took the cup at Hofstra’s Gohring Tournament on Saturday April 7th. The women made a clean sweep at the event, beating Molloy 43 – 0 then Fordham 66-0 to get to the final. The final, against Hofstra, ended with a final score of 29 – 12.

The tournament win sets up the women very nicely as they look ahead to the Empire GU D2 playoffs, taking place at the start of May.

The Men’s 1st XV continued the club’s successes through the following weekend, beating Bayonne 21 – 17. This made it 3 wins out of 3 games in their spring league season, following wins over Suffolk (22 – 0) and North Jersey (13 – 0). After the North Jersey game, the Men’s 2nd XV also impressed with a decisive 50 – 0 victory over ICC.

Brooklyn Men’s 1st XV finished 4th out of 11 in their division overall, a great result and a marked improvement on last year.

The men’s spring season continues with a series of 1st XV and 2nd XV friendlies before the Sevens season kicks off in the summer. For a full list of upcoming match fixtures, click here.
